More Trip Preparations

Justin guiding Steve
The Team at Training
Arlyn, Ray, Steve, Ann
Justin, Dan, Arlyn
On Saturday, July 27, several of the team members spent two hours in a training session on how to hang drywall (aka sheetrock).  Thanks to the Home Depot on University Parkway. Their team is very knowledgeable of all the steps and special considerations in hanging drywall.  Of course, Ray and Roger were already knowledgeable and yet picked up a few tips and techniques from Justin.  Dan helped and Arlyn supervised and arranged the session for us.  Thanks, guys!

Arlyn at Home Depot
This week, everyone is packing up what they think they will need to bring to Minot, ND.  Then, Lynn and Steve in their car and Roger on his motorcycle start their drive northward just under 2,200 miles.  Ann and Ray will arrive at the airport on Saturday while Jane, Fred, Rick and Noah will be driving from Colorado.

Prayer Shawls
We are asking members of the congregation to write a short note to the people in Minot this coming Sunday and on August 10.  Pastor Mark will be flying in to Minot on Monday, August 11 to meet up with the team and will be bringing along the note cards from our congregation to Minot.

Also, three prayer shawls are being taken to be handed out to those individuals in Minot in need.

Our next post in this blog will be when we arrive in Minot to start our servant week.  Thanks for your interest!

Fundraising for Minot, ND Flood Recovery

On July 12, the fundraising Italian Dinner was held in the Fellowship Hall.  Almost 80 people attended and enjoyed a delicious spaghetti dinner prepared by Lou and Christine.  Homemade spumoni ice cream for dessert made in the kitchen by Marissa and Lynn.  The music played and the conversation was lively at all the tables.  T-shirts were sold and additional donations were made by others who weren't able to attend.  A great evening and fundraising event -- the goal of raising $5,000 was reached!  Thanks to all you helped make this happen!

The Servant Team is now in the final weeks of preparation for their trip.  On July 27, the team will be attending training at Home Depot on how to hang drywall.  Then each member will be leaving for their trip to Minot, North Dakota, meeting at the hotel on Saturday, August 10.  Ray and Ann will be flying in; Roger will be driving his motorcycle; Lynn and Steve will be driving their own car and Jane, Fred, Noah & Rick will be coming from Colorado in their car.

On August 11, the team will attend Christ Lutheran Church's worship service.  On Monday, August 12, everyone will meet in the lobby and head to Hope Village - Lutheran Disaster Response's office for their first assignment.
Look for more posts in August as the team assembles and does God's work with their hands.
